William Lee Ashley age 73 of Caldwell Street, Statesville passed away Friday May 14, 2010 at Davis Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was born January 10, 1937 in Wilkes County to the late Joe Ashley and Maude Treadway Clanton. He was a furniture worker . He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, J D Ashley; two sisters, Doris Treadway and Marie Seeds.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Barbara Morrison Ashley of the home; three brothers, Escar Clanton of Taylorsville, Steve Clanton of Taylorsville, and James Clanton of Poke County; one sister, Vinie Elder of Poke County; and a number of Nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday May 18, 2010 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Dagenhart and Rev. James Lockee will officiate. Burial will follow in Liledoun Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am prior to the funeral hour at Chapman Funeral Home.
