James C “Red” Adams, age 67 of 2231 1st Street SE, Hickory, resident of the Brookford Community passed away Friday April 2, 2010 at his home. He was born July 14, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Charles H Adams and Irene Travis Adams. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, Duke fan and Yankee fan. He was a self employed painter.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his five brothers, Mickey Roy Adams, Joe R Adams, Clark Adams, Donald Adams and David Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ashburn Adams of the home; three step daughters, Kimberly Johnson Donaldson and husband Todd of Statesville, Alisa Ann Mantysaari of Statesville, Laurie M Myers and husband Terry of Union Grove; six grandchildren: Jessica, Nicholas, and Ashlea Donaldson, Brittany, T J, and Josh Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Monday April 5, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville. Rev. Tony E Bunton will officiate. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens.
