Kent Henry Abbes, 64, of 136 Deer Haven Drive, Statesville, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008, at Home. He was born on December 6, 1943, in King County, NY to the late Henry and Evelyn Abbes of Queens, NY. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, a loyal friend and a hard working and faithful minister.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Gianino Abbes of the home; one son, Scott Abbes and wife Jennifer of Benton, TN; one daughter Christi Morales and husband George of Mocksville; two granddaughters, Rachel Morales and Danielle Eudy and husband Jason; two brothers, Bruce Abbes and Doug Abbes; one sister, Lynn Abbes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 4:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 318 James Farm Rd, Statesville, NC 28625

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, 26 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Sister Abbes, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your husband visited my Kingdom Hall last year. I go to Hurley School Road Congregation in Salisbury. I also work at the Statesville Record & Landmark and saw your announcement come in. I work on Saturday afternoon so I wasn't able to attend the memorial. Aren't we so thankful to have the hope of the resurrection! And from the look of things we don't have long to wait. I know that comforts you as it does me and many others. As we get closer more and more people need that same comfort and hope so we'll press on with faith and endurance with the help of our wonderful Father in heaven, Jehovah, and his son, our reigning King, Christ Jesus.
